It’s September 2nd, 2017. 2AM. This will inevitably become overly dramatic, but please bear with me.
It’s been nearly three years since the last chapter of The Adventures of Hercule Cubbage, my Half-Life 2 comic. Every now and then, people leave a comment asking for the next installment. I don’t think many people believed it would ever get here after so long. Hell, to be honest, even I had my doubts from time to time.
But yesterday, September 1st, marked 10 years since I released my very first comic, and 5 years since I launched The Adventures of Hercule Cubbage (obviously it’s not a coincidence). We also recently passed the five-year mark of Metrocop. So something had to be done.
I thought I was gonna pull it off last year, and really did my best to try and do so (a lot of what you’re about to read was last edited over a year ago), but I couldn’t. I lost faith many times, I had the whole story planned for ages but thought I couldn’t do it, I’d never have the time again, I couldn’t handle Garry’s Mod anymore, I’m done.
And then… I wasn’t.
I did it. I finally did it. It’s finally here. It’s not Episode Three (though I guess we also got that recently, in a way – and no, that being released had no impact on this. I’d been trying to get this done for a while now), but it’s something. It took me over 50 hours this week alone to get the last six or so pages done, which is more than a full-time job.
But it’s time. Please welcome back our lost hero, Hercule Cubbage, in the long-awaited sixth chapter of The Adventures of Hercule Cubbage, “It’s Safer Here”. Click the cover below and enjoy. (Though if you haven’t recently, I recommend you first re-read the first five chapters!)
Please leave a comment in the comic’s page if you enjoyed it. And please don’t start asking right away for Chapter 7. It hopefully won’t be three years away (or more), but it won’t be out soon, either. E. S. Toomere will start working on the necessary maps very soon and, in the meantime, I’ll see if I can get a little side project of mine on the road. Stay tuned.
I’ll have words to post soon regarding all these big milestone anniversaries I mentioned, but it’s 2AM and I gave it my all. No one is more deserving of a rest. This is where I get off.
