At the farm's garage, Katrina is sitting alone next to a hoverbike, sobbing. Lennie enters the garage and says that's where she is, telling her he was getting worried. He sits next to her and tells her she doesn't have to be alone up there. Katrina apologizes to Lennie, telling him she never meant to lie to anyone. He tells her no one blames her, but she retorts that she blames herself. She notes that billions of people died because she wasn't strong enough to stop her and now she'll try to do it all over again. Lennie extends his hand and tells her they won't let that happen. As she grabs it, he adds that he won't let it happen. Katrina tells him that means a lot to her. They kiss. Meanwhile, in space over Skyline's atmosphere, the TNS Thousand Angels detects a large hyperspace signature. Suddenly, a spaceship emerges out of hyperspace. One of the Thousand Angel's ensigns identifies it as a machine base-ship. The commander orders to sound the alert. The ship goes into alert, with soldiers preparing for a battle and fighter pilots preparing for imminent contact. The fighters emerge out of the Thousand Angels and face the machine fighters head on in space. The Thousand Angels itself starts a barrage against the machine ship, but an ensign notes that the enemy ship is ignoring them and heading for the planet. The commander realizes the machines know they're not worth considering as a threat, then states that a ship that big can't land and they must be planning to launch drop-pods. The commander tells an ensign to patch him through to Mackenzie. On the surface, Mackenzie asks what the situation is and is informed of the machine base-ship, with the commander telling him to prepare for incoming. Mackenzie asks what about the ship. The commander tells him they'll do their best to hold them off up there and for the agent to do what he needs to do. Mackenzie wishes them luck and the commander grimly replies they're going to need it. Mackenzie rushes to the rest of them and tells them they have incoming. Clive asks what's going on and Mackenzie says the machines are there and it's only a matter of time before the troops attack. Mackenzie suggests locking the blast door as that might hold them for a while, but Clive calls that plan B and declares he doesn't want to shut that door without at least trying to fight those bastards first. He tells Lennie to take Katrina somewhere safe then fetch the guns and says to Mackenzie that he can help him set up a barricade. The base-ship shoots several drop-pods towards the planet, which hit the surface and reveal massive androids within. Clive, Mackenzie and Kiko finish preparing the barricade just as Lennie brings them guns. They hold down the fort, waiting for the machines to arrive. The androids start to come out from the desert, to which Mackenzie says here they come. The AI orders her metal soldiers to come to her, declaring they have worlds to burn. Inside, Katrina crouches atop the couch. The machines start to fire at the solar farm, to which the group fires back. Their bullets bounce back from the androids' metal bodies, making Lennie realize bullets ain't having any effect. Clive tells him to aim for the joints and shoots a rifle at an android, blowing out its leg. The firefight continues, with the army of machines getting increasingly closer to the farm. In Katrina's head, her sister tells her they won't last much longer and then her war can begin again. Katrina tells her sister they won't lose to her because Lennie promised he wouldn't let the AI take her. The AI tells her if she doesn't believe her, then to go and see their downfall herself. Katrina follows that suggestion and heads up. Clive gets hit by a blaster bolt in the shoulder and screams with the pain. Kiko rushes to him and checks as he moans that it hurts. Katrina watches in horror as her sister tells her they have no chance of survival and there is nothing they can do to stop her. Seeing their struggling faces, Katrina mutters no, then declares there is one thing she can do. She jumps onto a hoverbike and flies over the barricade, then turns past the robots. Clive shouts in shock that she's riding straight towards the cremation zone. Lennie declares that he's going after her and gets on a bike. He manages to catch up to Katrina and screams at her what is she doing. Katrina apologizes to him and explains that this is the only way she can stop her. Lennie tells her she'll die too and she responds that she should have died a long time ago and every day since then has been a blessing. Lennie screams there must be some other way. Katrina looks back at him and tells him not to be sad. She tells him she wants him to survive and be happy. She tells him she's going to miss him and rides on towards the cremation zone. Lennie screams her name one last time. The machines approaching the farm lose the signal from their Empress and determine their next action to be standing by, so they shut down. Kiko mutters in shock that they stopped. In space, a fighter pilot informs the commander that the machines have shut down. The commander thanks God for that. In the middle of the desert, Lennie cries, mourning Katrina. Some time later, Clive, Lennie and Kiko are saying their goodbyes to Mackenzie. Clive thanks him for all that he's done for them, to which Mackenzie replies that he was just doing his job. Clive notes that maybe them Imperials aren't all as bad as he thought and the two shake hands, then Mackenzie leaves. Clive asks Lennie what he thinks. Lennie replies that he's going to go up there someday, pointing upwards, to the sky which Katrina came from. He declares he's going to do as she said: survive and be happy. The three Skyline bandits stare at the sky, hopeful to live another day. The end.
