Team LifeTeam Life logo.Chapter 2: Unnecessary Attention

The blue team's Pyro lights up their flamethrower in their intelligence room on 2Fort.
The blue Soldier thanks the Pyro for the spy-check and then addresses his team, consisting of the Engineer, the Sniper and the Scout. Soldier orders Scout to report and Scout tells him he looked everywhere and Heavy and Medic are gone, just gone. Soldier gets angry and lifts Scout in the air by the clothes, telling him to look some more as they must find their comrades.
While Scout rushes off, Soldier turns his attention to Sniper, asking him if he has anything to report from his reconnaissance. Sniper tells Soldier he ain't found piss. Soldier says he won't tolerate failure on his team and demands that Engineer explain how this could happen. Engineer states he was out cold when it happened and, when he woke up, all his buildings were just dust, something he'd never seen before.
Suddenly, a Spy pops up, declaring that, unlike them, he managed to get his hands on some information. The Soldier is startled by the sight of a Spy but he snidely replies he's their Spy and adds that the red team is missing their own Spy. Spy then hands Engineer a folder he found at the RED base. Soldier asks Engineer what it is.
Engineer notes it's very interesting, as it's the blueprints for some teleporter reversal device. He then realizes what happened and explains to his team there can be only one explanation: the red Spy used the device and overloaded his teleporters in the process. The blue Demoman asks if it was at the same time as their teammates teleporter and adds that that can't be good. Engineer agrees and concludes that, if their guys were immaterialized at the exact moment before his teleporters were sabotaged...
Soldier worriedly asks what would happen then and Engineer explains that during the transfer you're nothing but charged particles in space, so if there's no exit, you would simply cease. The Soldier and the Engineer take a mournful moment.
The Soldier tells his sorrowful team that they have lost two fine men today and asks for a moment of silence for Medic and Heavy. Outside, in the night, the Pyro sits in the balcony of the base.
Pyro stares at the moon, takes its lighter and, after a few moments of trying, manages to light it up.
Pyro lifts the lighter towards the night sky in tribute to its fallen comrades.
Meanwhile, in another universe, the very much alive Medic and Heavy have found an apartment to stay in within City 17. Medic thanks the female citizen that took them in as Heavy asks what they should do next. Medic explains they must find an engineer, as there must be engineers in this world as well that can help them. Heavy agrees on the plan but states he must find breakfast first. Medic berates him over thinking about food in such a situation. Heavy scours the apartment but finds no food and the citizen explains they're out of rations, but he could try the neighbor if he feels lucky.
Another citizen suddenly tells Medic to get away from the window. Outside, there are Civil Protection teams patrolling with an armored personnel carrier vehicle. The citizen explains they wouldn't want to attract any unnecessary attention, as Civil Protection stirs up for the slightest. Just at that very moment, Heavy walks in with a metro cop under his arm, saying he found no food in the entire building. Medic says that's too bad and starts to formulate a plan, then does a double-take back to the Heavy.
Medic questions Heavy what he has under his arm and Heavy explains the little cop, as he calls the officer, looked at him suspiciously but he took care of it. The citizen nearby notes this is bad news. Meanwhile, the Combine Overwatch makes an announcement and sends teams of Civil Protection officers into the building, looking for Heavy.
The female citizen, Paula, spots the Combine arriving and is grabbed by the Combine. The other citizen screams they gotta get out of there.
Civil Protection arrests a citizen as one of the officers notes they have suspects on the move and chases after them. The citizen tells Heavy and Medic to head for the roof. They chase after him in the corridor with Civil Protection close behind them, Heavy still clutching an unconscious officer.
The Heavy shouts at Civil Protection to go home, calling them baby cops, then tosses the officer he's been carrying at them, taking down two other officers in the process.
The citizen runs across the hallway, telling Heavy and Medic the roof is just up the stairs, when an officer lurking nearby catches him off-guard, hitting him hard in the head with a stun stick and taking him down. The Heavy goes berserk in response, grabbing the cop and crushing his head straight into the wall. Medic checks in on the citizen and he tells them he can't see and is done for.
The citizen, bleeding from his head, tells his friends to keep going and then run up the stairs, coming across another citizen asking about the ruckus.
The Heavy exclaims that the cops are coming and tells the citizens to run, but another citizen notes they're already there. Two metro cops are inside, hitting some citizens. Medic tells the rest to stand back as it is time for Heavy warfare, as Heavy cracks his knuckles.
Heavy tosses a cop out of the window and he, along with the Medic and two other citizens, run up the stairs. Someone shouts at them to get in and the four crash in, dropping on top of each other on the floor.
The Heavy, the Medic and the two citizens just stay on top of each other awkwardly for a moment, then the Heavy gets up and barricades the door. A citizen tells them to keep going as the Combine are after them.
As they reach the roof, Medic notes those were some interesting events. Heavy replies now they must find an engineer. A noise from behind startles them and Medic sees that it's the police, who have gotten through and are now firing at both. Medic tells Heavy to take cover as the cops shoot at them.
Medic and Heavy find some cover, Medic wonders how they'll get out of this and Heavy suggests making a run for it. Medic says when the cops reload, they'll go. As soon as the cops stop firing, both Heavy and Medic start running across the rooftops, then slide down the roof once they run over the edge.
Medic and Heavy nearly fall off the building, but Heavy manages to grab the edge as well as Medic.
Panicking, Medic screams at Heavy not to let go. Heavy shouts back at Medic to keep holding, but Medic starts to slip and shouts he's gonna fall. Medic loses grip and falls back screaming.
The Heavy lets out a long NO as the Medic falls towards his impending death. The comic ends abruptly, promising a continuation in chapter 3.
