Combine Exchange ProgramEpisode 3: Impressions

At a Civil Protection outpost, the metro cops are sitting in chairs and watching a briefing. Alongside them is the Combine soldier on exchange. The metro cop presenting welcomes everyone and tells them today's briefing is on weapon accountability. Next to him is a slide that says weapon accountability, everyone's responsibility. The soldier turns to his partner and asks why they are having that briefing. The cop replies that someone lost their weapon, so now they have to sit through a briefing about not losing weapons.

The soldier asks who lost their weapon and the cop replies probably Gibson. The soldier asks how does he know, to which the cop replies that Gibson's the one sitting slumped in his chair. A few rows in front of them, another cop is indeed sitting with his arms crossed, looking annoyed. The soldier replies ah. Later, the soldier and the cop are walking outside and the cop says he thinks the soldier will like today. The soldier asks why's that, to which the cop replies that today they get to patrol the outskirts.

The metro cop triumphantly presents an armored personnel carrier, saying they're patrolling in an APC. The soldier points out he's been in an APC before. Disappointed, the cop says he sees impressing him is going to take some more work. The soldier crosses his arms and replies seems so.

Later, as they patrol the outskirts in the armored personnel carrier, the metro cop, who is driving, asks the soldier why he came to Civil Protection on exchange if it's so boring. The soldier replies it was either that or Nova Prospekt and admits that he prefers being bored outta his mind than hanging out with Nova Prospekt guards, saying those guys are total weirdos. The cop sarcastically says gee, thanks. The soldier then notices something up ahead and asks what it is.

Ahead of their vehicle is a broken bridge with a small wooden barrier. The soldier realizes the bridge is out, then asks the cop if he isn't going to stop. The cop says nope, then says let's see how boring we are now as he puts his foot on the pedal. The APC crashes through the barriers and flies over a ramp, then vanishes from view.

The next day, at the Civil Protection outpost, a metro cop gives another briefing, this time on vehicle safety, with a slide saying vehicle safety, top priority. The soldier admits that was pretty cool as his partner sits slumped in his chair. End.
