Half-Spartan#2: “My Legs don’t Bend That Way”

Master Chief approaches a Civil Protection officer and asks where the Covenant are because he needs to finish the fight. The officer is confused and asks if he means the Combine. Master Chief insists that he means the Covenant. The cop stares at him in confusion. Chief explains that he means the guys who have taken over the world looking for an ancient Forerunner in the deserts of Africa, in turn oppressing the human race. The metro cop politely points out they are the only ones invading this world. Master Chief asks if that means the Covenant have been defeated. The cop tells him to move along, calling him citizen. Chief tells the cop not to tell him what to do. The metro cop shouts at him to move along.

Master Chief stops at the turnstile for a moment. The Civil Protection officer asks him if he doesn't know how to go through and Master Chief replies yes, he does and tells him to shut up. The cop explains that you push one side, creating a spinning vortex teleporting you to the other side. Master Chief extends his hand as he notes that teleportation is not good to him. A woman nearby stares as suddenly the turnstile starts to make bloodcurdling noises. Master Chief screams sweet Jesus and teleportation is not good to me as the woman squints.

Master Chief is tangled in the turnstile. He looks at the woman nearby and tells her he thinks he did it wrong and that he's pretty sure his legs don't bend that way. Minutes later, the woman has managed to untangle Chief, who is lying on the ground. He asks what torture is this place and the woman explain it's City 17, where the human race is just an obstacle. She explains that the Combine act like they're enforcing rules but the moment they get the order, they kill us all. She stares at an officer nearby, who is singing a stunstick song to himself when he notices her looking and warns her not to make him oppress her with his stunstick. Master Chief groans and she asks if he is gonna be alright.

Master Chief, bleeding from his legs, asks the woman to just let him lie there for a couple of seconds. A moment passes as both sit still. Chief then asks if his legs are not bleeding anymore. She tells him they're still bleeding, to which he replies that this world sucks. The end.
