Mythic Comics#1: Haunted, Part 1

Inside a rundown apartment full of trash in a corner, tapping and clicking sounds are heard. We get a glimpse of a man sitting at a table with a laptop, clicking and tapping away.

The man is Mythos, a professional procrastinator.

As Mythos taps and clicks away at his laptop, a phone receiver behind him suddenly floats in the air with an eerie glow. It then suddenly flies at Mythos, hitting him in the head. He groans in pain and asks what the hell. The receiver falls onto the ground. Mythos looks around and asks who's there, then asks if they think they're funny, sarcastically saying ha-ha, hilarious. He is immediately hit in the head with an old can of beans. He gets up looking angry and says that's it, then demands the person show themselves so he can kick their ass.

Mythos then spots a ghostly figure floating in the middle of the room in front of him. A moment passes as Mythos stares at it dumbfounded. The ghost then looks up at him, whispers Mythos, then shrieks Mythos as it flies at him.

Mythos raises his hands trying to stop the ghost, insisting that it look but not touch. The ghost flies right through him, to his shock and confusion. He looks behind him, but the ghost is gone. He notes to himself that that was new and that he's gonna need some help with that one. He takes out a futuristic smartphone made of a simple frame and see-through glass and uses it to call someone, telling them it's him and that he was hoping they could help him with a supernatural problem. Mythos asks if they can meet.

A few hours later, Mythos is walking outside when someone hiding in a corner tells him he's late. Mythos turns and starts to say it's been a while since he left the apartment, but stops and recoils in terror, exclaiming good God and asking what's wrong with the person.

Standing in front of Mythos is FZE, looking like a rip-off Gene Simmons with dark spots around his eyes and a grey complexion. He tells Mythos he's kinda dead and asks how this is even a surprise to him, noting that Mythos has seen him since he changed. He points at a spear poking through his stomach and asks Mythos if he remembers Pointy. FZE then notes to himself that he thought he had killed Mythos back then. Mythos asks FZE what he's babbling about, revealing that he hasn't left his apartment in five years and that the last time he saw FZE was during that wild goose chase of theirs, refering to FZE and Mythos' Badass Adventure. Mythos asks FZE if he's sure he wasn't dreaming, to which FZE sarcastically replies of course, it all makes sense now, he dreamt he rose from the grave and got shot with a fucking spear. He adds that he's glad Mythos is there now to clarify those clearly ficticious events. Mythos puts his hand on his forehead as if suffering from a headache and replies whatever, that isn't even the weirdest part of his day so far. FZE says fine, then asks what sort of supernatural does Mythos need help with, listing zombies, werewolves and vampires as things he's done already. Mythos replies ghosts.

FZE states he doesn't believe in ghosts. Mythos stares at him for a second, then asks really, pointing out FZE is a goth zombie. FZE corrects him to tell him he's a revenant, actually, but Mythos tells him what he is is the guy who handles this kind of crap on a regular basis. Mythos tells him that, whether he believes it or not, he has a floating, transparent pain in his ass to get rid of, and asks FZE if he's coming with him or not. FZE stares him down, then replies sure, why the hell not. Mythos tells him great, then says to get going as he doesn't want to bump into some of FZE's old Union friends while he's out there. As they walk, Mythos asks FZE how he died anyway. FZE shrugs and says meh.

As he enters Mythos' apartment, FZE calls it a mess. Mythos points out that's rich coming from the guy who smells like he hasn't showered in years. FZE asks Mythos why his wall has graffity and Mythos tells him some kids broke in and vandalized the place a while back, but he didn't feel like replacing the wallpaper, plus, it's cheaper than a painting. FZE walks into the living room and asks where the supposed spectre is.

Mythos explains that last he saw the ghost, it flew into the bookcase and vanished. FZE states he sees, then asks what the apparent apparition did before that, like give ominous warnings, possess body parts or trash the place a little bit more. Mythos rubs his neck as he replies that it kinda just threw some stuff at him and said his name a couple of times.

FZE is unimpressed, asking if that's all Mythos' possible phantom has got. FZE calls it lame just as Mythos looks behind him and realizes all the junk in the corner is now floating in mid-air. The trash suddenly flies towards FZE, pushing him to the ground.

Buried underneath the garbage, FZE lifts a finger and says he may have underestimated Mythos' ghostly guest's telekinesis. FZE sits down and dares the ghost to keep tossing crap at him, since he's already dead and it can't injure him. FZE calls it pointless. On cue, the spear in his stomach starts glowing. As the ghost tries to take FZE's spear, he grabs it, telling the ghost to leave his spear alone as he's grown quite attached to it, literally even.

Mythos sighs as he watches this, then realizes the ghost is standing next to him and calmly states there it is, nice of it to drop by again. Suddenly, a firearm goes off repeatedly, to which Mythos shouts the fuck.

FZE is standing in the middle of the room, holding a smoking handgun. He notes that bullets go right through it and it has telekinetic powers, so yeah, he guesses it is a ghost. Mythos shouts at him that a ghost has no corporeal form, so he can't harm it with a gun, plus, he's shooting up his home. FZE lifts his arms and declares that shooting stuff is his thing and he figured it was worth a try, then points out it's not like his wall can't get any worse. Mythos facepalms and tells FZE to just put the gun away, then says he doubts it's gone for good and wonders how do they make it reappear. As FZE awkwardly suggests a seance, the television suddenly comes on all by itself, showing ominous noise.

FZE stares at the TV that just turned on and suggests maybe they just check what's on TV right then. FZE and Mythos peek at the television, which only displays noise. FZE then smiles and says he has to say it. Mythos asks him not to. FZE insists he has to as Mythos protests. FZE then quotes the girl from Poltergeist, saying they're heeeere. As he says it, the television suddenly starts to pull them in. Mythos tells FZE now he's done it.

Mythos and FZE scream as they fly towards, then into, the television. They then fall through noise with a scream and suddenly fall into the ground somewhere else, with Mythos groaning from pain.

As they get up, FZE asks Mythos if he's okay. Mythos replies he'll live and asks FZE, who replies nope. Mythos admits that was a poor choice of words. They stare forward and FZE asks Mythos if he has any idea where they are. Mythos replies just one, then quotes The Wizard of Oz: Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. In front of the duo is an ominous mansion, with lightning in the skies behind it. End of issue 1.

Ah yes, ”Professionally procrastinating” involves building and maintaining an entire site dedicated to gmod comics. Also that ghost effect is hella sweet.
