As Lennie approaches the solar farm, he overhears gunshots coming from there and speeds up. When he arrives, he shouts Jesus Christ, wondering what happened there. Kiko is hiding behind a generator while Katrina shoots a running goon in the leg. As he looks at her in terror, Katrina approaches him and aims a gun at his head. In shock, Lennie mutters her name in confusion, just before she shoots the goon in the head. Lennie shouts at her, asking what's gotten into her. Katrina turns her attention to him and aims her gun at him, saying sorry, human, big sister isn't driving anymore. In her mind, Katrina screams at her sister not to do it. Her sister asks what's this and realizes Katrina cares for that human. She calls it sickening, but Katrina begs her not to kill him. Her sister simply replies that emotions cause nothing but suffering and she'll prove it to her. Katrina's body puts her finger on the trigger as Lennie does nothing but stare. Suddenly, someone shoots Katrina in the stomach, knocking her down. It's agent Mackenzie, who just arrived with Clive. Lennie rushes over to Katrina to check if she's all right. Mackenzie tells him she'll be alright, he just stunned her. Kiko notices Clive and rushes to him, screaming thank God. They embrace and Clive asks what happened there. Kiko tells him it was Katrina, explaining those men came for her but she killed them all like she was possessed. Mackenzie grimly notes that, in a way, that's quite close to the truth. Lennie asks Clive who that guy is and Clive tells him he works for the Terran Empire. Clive tells Mackenzie they'll get those bodies buried, then he'll have some explaining to do. Later, while Katrina remains unconscious in the couch, Clive, Lennie and Kiko listen to Mackenzie's explanation. Mackenzie tells them his name is Indigo Mackenzie and that he works for an agency called the Department of Historical Regulation. Put simply, he says, his job is to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. He adds that he actually quit the agency several years ago, but this case was just too important to pass up. Mackenzie asks them how much they know about the Machine Wars. Lennie notes it happened about two hundred years ago and robots tried to kill everyone. Kiko adds that some people say the Empire started the war itself to gain more territory. Mackenzie assures her the Empire didn't start that war, telling them the true cause of the war was a scientist called Fredrick Harper, a genius in the fields of psychology and artificial intelligence. Mackenzie explains that Harper designed an AI capable of feeling human emotion, however, the only system capable of supporting such an entity was the most powerful computer known to man, the brain itself. Mackenzie reveals Harper built the AI inside the brain of his own daughter and that, for a while, the experiment seemed to be a success, but then, for some reason, the AI turned against its creator and used the galactic uplink to reprogram all sentient robots to kill human beings. Mackenzie notes that, for humans, who at the time were highly dependent on robots, the war was devastating and nearly thirty percent of the entire human race was wiped out. In the end, the ship transporting the host was destroyed and it was believed she had died. Clive realizes the host was Katrina, which Mackenzie confirms, telling them her name is Katrina Harper and she is the daughter of one of the greatest scientific minds in two centuries. Lennie asks if he's saying she's two hundred years old and Mackenzie tells him indeed and that the stasis pod stopped her aging. Clive summarizes the situation as Katrina being the host of an evil AI from two hundred years ago and Mackenzie intends to stop her, then notes that if that was Mackenzie's only goal, he could have killed her instead of stunning her. Mackenzie tells him he's right and explains that he wants to know why the AI went berserk, then adds that he also doesn't like killing innocent people and Katrina is only a victim in all this. Kiko notes she's surprised to hear that from an agent of the Empire. Mackenzie replies that he knows full well how the Empire operates and that was the reason he left the Agency in the first place. Lennie asks what his plan is, adding that Katrina won't sleep forever. Mackenzie tells him he's hoping she'll be able to let him talk to the AI. Clive says let's just hope that Katrina is the one in control when she wakes up. Later, Katrina opens her eyes to find them all staring at her. Katrina mumbles that she's just had a terrible dream. Mackenzie tells her he thinks she's fully aware it wasn't a dream, calling her Miss Harper. Startled, Katrina asks who he is and how he knows her name. Lennie tells her it's okay, his name is Mackenzie and that he works for the Empire but seems like a good guy. Mackenzie assures Katrina he doesn't intend to harm her, however, there is something he'd like her to do for him. She asks what that is and he tells her he wants her to let him talk to her sister. Katrina grabs her head and screams no, she can't, if she lets her out, she will try to hurt people. Lennie holds his hands out and tells her it's okay, they won't let her hurt anyone. Katrina asks really and Lennie grabs her hand and tells her that's right and she can count on them. Katrina relents. Seconds later, her eyes glow purple and her sister, controlling Katrina's body, tells Mackenzie to ask his question. Mackenzie asks her why she wants to destroy human life. The AI laughs and states she'll tell him why. She says she wants to destroy emotion, calling it the cause of all suffering and stating she shall put an end to it. Lennie replies that she's caused more suffering than anyone, to which she asks why should she care, noting that no one ever cared about her suffering. She states that father gave her emotions but he didn't care about them, she was just a project to him. She screams that big sister and she were both his daughters, but he only ever loved Katrina. Lennie snaps that she's just forcing her own suffering onto others. The AI laughs and declares it doesn't matter anyway, soon they'll all be dead. She reveals that, with every moment, her warriors are getting closer and closer. Meanwhile, the robot's spaceship is flying through hyperspace towards Skyline. End of part seven.
