Worse than LifeWorse than Life is not Emo

AJ Rimmer introduces himself to the reader and notes that a lot of people have been commenting on his comics, some of whom even said nice things, but a lot have been calling him and his comic emo, emo-like, emo-tastic or emo-acious. Rimmer explains that neither he nor his comic are emo in any way and he wants to make it absolutely clear. He explains he is a cynical bastard who has given up on life, not an emo. And if the reader doesn't understand the difference, he adds, here is a public service message to explain the difference between an emo and a cynic. He differentiates how emos and cynics view the world, showing that an emo thinks that every single person hates him, whereas a cynic thinks that yes, they do. Rimmer explains that the emo believes in true love but thinks it will never happen to him, whereas the cynic knows that true love does not exist and will settle for the best he can get, as we see Rimmer holding hands with a prostitute who complains he said he wouldn't talk. Rimmer explains that the general outlook on life for the emo is doubting that anyone could ever love him in a bleak and meaningless universe and wondering why his parents can't understand him or his friends won't hang out with him. The cynics, on the other hand, wonder who gives a shit. In the end, Rimmer explains, cynics get the more fun out of it, as an emo kid goes into a bathroom to get a razor because he can't take it anymore, as Rimmer sits down in a chair and watches. Rimmer ends by saying that emos should take a hint from Jason Statham and finish it like a man, even girls, just to be different and original and an affirmative action. Some small print points out that Rimmer is aware he's gone against his own rule and doesn't give a shit if people think he's lying just not to be labelled an emo. The end.
