JeffEpisode #64: Original Ideas

Jeff is deep in thought in the City 17 plaza steps. Jerry approaches and asks him what he's thinking so deeply about. Jeff explains he's trying to think of some ideas for his webcomic, Jeff. Jerry comments that Jeff making a webcomic about himself is pretty retarded. Jeff hits him in the face with a shovel and tells him to shut up and help think of something. Jeff comments he's thinking of writing about a mentally retarded Combine and we see a skit of a Combine soldier talking to a can, which he calls Reginald, then running after a crow screaming ninjas. Jerry slowly gets upright and suggests an incompetent counter-terrorist in Counter-Strike. Cut to a scene of counter-terrorists picking up their weapons and one of them grabs a cricket bat.

Jeff ponders a war-obsessed German with a pet scanner and we see a scene of a man in a tank talking to his pet scanner Hitler while on a tank, as another man exasperatedly tells him to get down from the tank. Jerry notes he's heard that noir type comics are popular and we see a black-and-white scene of a man narrating as he walks, saying he is a private detective after the Mafia, the Combine or maybe the Combine Mafia, then commenting that he likes thinking in narration boxes as they make him look cool. Jeff replies that's a little too emo for his tastes and thinks about a Combine that wants to be human again.

A metro cop looks around the city quietly, then says to himself that this job blows and he wants to be normal. Back to Jeff and Jerry, Jerry says that's way too emotional and suggests doing a story about a guy who gets confused for Gordon Freeman and goes on a zany adventure. We then see a man introduce himself to another citizen as Jordan Frayman, with the other man mishearing it as Gordon Freeman. Jordan corrects him and the man says there is a striking resemblance between the two names, to which Jordan replies he hears that a lot. Judith Mossman then shows up, confuses Jordan Frayman for Gordon Frohman, and tells Dog to get him. As Jordan tries to explain himself, Dog tosses him out of the city.

Jeff then notes he's always been a fan of Matrix spoofs. We see a Keanu Reeves lookalike in a white void wearing sunglasses, asking for guns, lots of guns. The void then turns into a blue error screen from Windows XP and the man grumbles about effing Windows. Jerry then interrupts Jeff saying he has the best idea ever and suggests a comic about two guys sitting down, thinking about ideas for an episode. Jeff and Jerry exchange a long glance and then both say nah simultaneously. The end.

“… the combine mafia.” A classic. All these comics refer to genuine stuff that was being put out, like your Jeremy Tibbles or your Concerneds; but also the vast amount of clone comics that were made to mimic them.
